Saturday , July 21, 2018 - 12:04 PM

EDITOR’S NOTE: Because of incorrect information provided to the Standard-Examiner, Capt. Danielle Croyle’s rank was incorrectly stated in a previous version of this story.

OGDEN — Police in Ogden have located a “person of interest” in the death of an infant found late Friday afternoon.

The Ogden Police Department made the announcement at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday on its Facebook page.

The department’s post did not identify the person, but the child’s father, 37-year-old Alex Hidalgo, was previously being sought for questioning.

“Alex is a person of interest,” Ogden Police Department Capt. Danielle Croyle said Saturday in a release.

According to the Facebook post, the person was “being transported to the police station to be interviewed.”

Officers responded to a report of suspicious circumstances at around 4 p.m. on Friday in the area of 24th Street and Madison Avenue and found an unresponsive 10-month-old male child in an apartment.

The baby was transported to an area hospital where he was declared dead.

No additional details were provided.
